Hello everyone, sorry for the lack of blog entries recently.......camp wi-fi isn't the best and we've been pretty busy!
We are currently in a town called Bakersfield on a road trip to Yosemite and San Francisco however that will be in another blog entry (hopefully going to be a good one), this one will be dedicated to the times we had a camp.
We began our time at camp a bit nervous and apprehensive as we were significantly older (and therefore calmer) than the majority of the staff but we got over it and realised that they were decent people and the majority warranted conversation! (Shout out to AJ, Burstein, Ash Cram and Harry to name a few).
We were both placed with the oldest kids, 10th grade (14/15 years old), which was nice as we got to spend a decent amount of time together when the kids were hanging out AND we both got to go on a trip to Disney World and the Bahamas which was amazing (really hard work, but good fun). Page found it tough to begin with as some of the girls are a lot tougher to work with than the boys but we both had good times and bad times with the kids.
My highlight was taking the kids to a thrift store (charity shop) to buy fancy dress for 80's day and while the girls proceeded to destroy the shop and scream about the way it smells like old people my boys realised that they were very lucky to be in the position they were in and made a collective decision to donate their money rather than buy something as a joke that could be used by a person that needs it. This pretty much sums up the difference between the boys and the girls in our grade.
Page had a few highlights of Camp. When her birthday arrived, i got my boys to make her a 'Happy Birthday Page' sign in woodworking, and then we presented it to her at dinner. Her girls also toilet papered her entire bed, so when she woke up in the night to wee she was completely toilet papered in! Hilarious and showed her girls had a good sense of humour.
During Camp there are events such as College Week and Olympics, when the whole camp is split into teams and they compete to win points. The whole camp goes crazy, and as we had the oldest kids they are a lot more involved in organising and running of it. All the kids were really competitive, and it was nice to see them involved for once (Page's girls didn't really like doing any activities!).
We had fun at camp but we were definitely ready for it to end, we now look forward to our Californian leg of the trip. Next stops - Fresno, Yosemite and San Francisco.
Will keep you posted! xxxxxx

Karen Hey Tom great to see you back on the blog and to hear it from your perspective! I suspect it was different than the last time you went there, partly because of Lou being there, but also because you are older now. So wonderful to hear your boys were so kind with their money. Hope the girls will figure that out sooner rather than later! Love to you both Kxxxxx
