11, October 2006, morning time was upon us and we all awoke to a cloudy New Zealand sky, after munching our breaky and showering we got back on track and headed for the Bay of islands. Half way threw the journey we stopped of to visit the Kuwaiti caves, this gave us our first glimpse of the famous glow worms. It was a guided tour and cost $10. It took us threw a cave system, about 400 meters long. The tour guide also gave us a brilliant lecture about the history and origins of the cave. Emerging from the upper entrance we descended down onto a jungle track, this gave us our first taste of true New Zealand nature “we could see now why Peter Jackson favor’s this beautiful country for all his films”. We managed to get a load of pick’s climbing thru tree's and over rock's “Tarzan style ".After the cave's it wasn’t long before we were approaching the bay of islands. Driving into the bay was a sight to see, so picturesque. The coast reveals it self once you drive over the very last mountains of Kawakawa. Islands drift off into the sun set as if being sucked into the distant sea. "And no we were not on Fiji's finest; it was just a great site to see”. We pulled up out side Pariah 'the main village' , Found our bearings and had a pint of Stella , went on to buy a crate , a couple of pizzas and headed to our camp site of choice. The camp site was 5 min's drive from Pariah, next to the Harura Fall’s, along side the river edge. Once again we played cards, drank beer and ate pizza till late night.
