Laura's Journal
Just arrived back in tongaTAPU-i've been spelling it wrong the whole time! Very dodgy flight on very small plane, but lovely views over all the islands.
Had a great day yesterday in vava'u, I went out on a sailing trip for the day on a trimaran (?spelling). The boys went kayaking for the day instead, so it was myself, a german girl and an american girl, who were both really nice. We sailed out to one of the smaller islands and snorkelled on a reef around the boat, yes dad I got in and snorkelled! Saw some lovely coloured fish, including clown fish-finding nemo! Then we got taken to the island and hiked up to a tomb and lookout on the top of the hill on the island. The island was uninhabited apart from wild pigs and lots of spiders! It was soo beautiful. The people who owned ther boat were really lovely and fed us fresh fruit and cups of tea all day, it was such a perfect day.
This morning I dragged the boys up Mt Talau, which over looks the harbour town of neiafu, it was worth it for the views. We then did a bit of shopping and the boys went off for lobster for lunch, i stayed in a cafe and had a cheese toastie! Then got our flight back this afternoon, which was very funny.
We just got back to the main island and our guesthouse to find our rooms weren't kept for us like we were told they would be and I have been put in a room with a random american lady who was on our flight. They are so disorganised here its unbelievable. Neither me or her are happy and theres only 1 key for the room so i'm moving a bed into a room with the boys. Crazy.
Anyway, getting some food and then going to meet carla and our local friends here which should be good and de-stress me!
Its the kings funeral tomorrow afternoon, so everything will be shut down, but i will write again when I can get to an open cafe! should be an interesting day though.
hope everyone is well,
xxxx
