Dude is that a bear?
Today we joined the down hill mountain bike dudes as we tackled the hair raising jumps and white knuckle bends of whistler mountain. We hired the bike and protective clothing along with a much needed guide/tutor. We took the ski lift with our bikes up the mountain, where we were taught the basic skills to survive our descent. Then we were off down a steep and very bendy track were we tackled burns (hair pin bends), jumps and large rocks. This has to be the highlight of our trip so far a huge adrenaline fix- we both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and escaped with just a few bruises!
After 4 hours of riding our bodies were telling us to stop. So once again we stuffed our faces from the BBQ grill bar. It did not disappoint, the plates were licked clean!
Our afternoon activity was a lot more relaxing as we took the peak to peak gondola. The peak to peak gondola climbs up whistler mountain, then goes across to Blackcombe mountain, then a ski lift back down. The views on the climb up were stunning and we were greeted with snow at the summits. We were even lucky enough to spot 3 bears rummaging for food below us. The first two were black bears, a mum and its cub! The second was much larger so we think it may have been a grizzly!
Bears, mountains and snow- we are defiantly in Canada and loving it!
With love
