BULA!!!! (thats hello in Fijian!) wow!!! what a week, fiji is by far my favourite place so far, i know i say that everytime, but i really mean it!! it was paradise! i did so much, and yet so little!! we love it so much, were thinking of going back when were in oz if we get a job so we can fund it!
we island hopped, so in total we saw maybe 6 islands, we got 3 meals a day which i loved- 7-8 is breki, 11-12 is lunch, 4 is afternoon tea and cake, and 7-8 is dinner!! we had great food, some native, some not so native! and they bang a drum when its food time! well when i say drum, i mean a hollow tree stump! its weird now im in new zealand, i keep an ear open for the drum, but its a no go!
the sea in fiji was crystal clear on most islands, with gorgeous corals in which i snorkelled above and when i felt brave, between! and hundreds of fish! i went line fishing for 2 hours in the pacific, nobody wanted to go, so just the skipper and i!! we caught 12 between us! i went swimming through a cave, pitch black! but the echo was nice! oh and i swam with mantarays! they were HUGE! between 7 and 9 meters wide! even had a pop at kayaking on the sea, bit choppy but amazing fun! as you can see i love the water! lorn doesnt share the passion!
we met so many great people, friends for life. played alot of s***head- (international travellers card game!) oh and drank cava! its basically like plant leaves, dried, that they grind down, and then put in a material bag, and mix with water, the water turns a murky brown colour, and you have a ceremony, and drink it out of a coconut shell! tsunami for a full cup or low tide for a half cup! it tastes awful! makes ur mouth numb for a few mins then it fades and its ur turn again! really odd, but fun.
The fijian men have such big feet, really wide where they wear no shoes! and the woman carry our luggage! i didnt like that, we went to sunday church in the village of one of the islands too! and weaved our own jewellery. hiked a gurt mountain to see the sunset....we missed it! but the clouds were nice! and the hammocks!!! what an invention! im gonna be planting me a couple of trees when i get home! by the time i hit 70 they will be raring to go! got bit by the old mozzy quite a bit, even with the nets and repellant i must be too tasty! water was pricey though! 5 dollars a bottle! and its a must!
arrived in New Zealand today- forst impressions- reminds me alot of England! went shopping, and it felt like i was christmas shopping in taunton or something! its chilly here!!
big love to everyone, miss u all so much, i will update new zealand when i know!! but defo go to fiji guys!! xxx
