wow! firstly allow me to apologise for not updating since fiji! in New Zealand i hardly had a chance to sit down at a computer and type! Secondly, be aware that i juat did a gurt long blog, only to have the computer crash and lose it all, so this is my second attempt!
New Zealand was and no doubt still is the most beautiful country i have been too so far! (apart from England of course! no place like home)
seeing mirrored lakes, (see pic) snow capped mountains and massive cascading waterfulls, all becomes the norm in NZ and you even start to take it for granted! amazing kodak moments!!
now for a geography/history lesson. for those of you who dont know,New zealand is 2 islands, the north island and the south island, with a 3 hour ferry ride between them. Back in the day Auckland a city in the north island was the capital of NZ, when suddenly one day, the south island figured that they wanted to be an independant country from the north island, after all, the south island had all the money (gold rush) when the big guys got word of this, suddenly the capital was moved straight to Wellington a city in the south island, so here we are still, 2 islands, one country, if youre planning on going ot NZ (egg and spoon) the south island is the place to be, she is stunning.
i did so much in NZ, including, white water rafting where we sat in a big raft and rode the rapids down a river, and a 7 metere waterfull drop, i also hopped out the raft and had a swim (well got dragged) along the rapids. amazing fun i horse trekked one afternoon through some of the beautiful countryside, my horse was called pedro, and he thought he should be the alpha male, so was a naughty boy, and we spent the majority of the trek sectioned off from the group! black water rafting was great, we drifted through the cave on rubber rings, the water was freezing! and absailed down 110 meters to get into the cave, and climbed 2 waterfulls to get out! i did a bungy jump, 134 meters down a canyon-just amazing! oh and i hiked a galcier, the franz josef, it was phenominal, it was a sunny day and i got to have clamp-ons on my boots and use a pic! and climb through tunnels under the ice! an unforgettable experience. also we went to a lake called 'nelsons lake' and it was famous, so i stripped off into my bikini and shorts and jumped on in, it was FREEZING the mountains had snow on them in the background the pontoon i was stood on was slush and ice, and it literally took my breath away! i felt like i was on titanic!it took a good 10 seconds before i could even speak! so refreshing though! would defo reccomend!
food was a bit of a let down though, i decided to treat myself to a roast lamb after my lake experience, but it was rubbish! nothing like im used to back home thanks to mum, auntie ma, grandma and mrs kinchella! (again theres no place like home!)
i was also ill in NZ i surprisingly caught the flu! whether it was due to my water activities, or the fact that there was about 10 people stuffed into one bedroom at our hostel and disease spread freely! (i felt like an aasylum seeker in an attic!) i dunno, but any of you that know me, know that i hate taking medicines, i figure that my body will fight off anything better than some tablet can. luckily grandma gave me a scarf before i left that you wrap around your head and neck kept me warm throughout the day and night, so what with that and the thought of grandma looking after me, and constant sympathy searching texts to mum, i got better in no time at all!
So New Zealand was a big thumbs up from me, oh yeah i just remebered, i went to one place where they sheared rabbits!! it was the funniest thing ive ever seen, they tie bungy around the rabbits feet and arms and stretch him out so he looks like hes on a spit, then they shave the fur off (it is stupidly long!) turning the spit around, it was crazy, i felt so bad for the rabbit, but apparently , if they dont do it every 6 months, the rabbit will die of over heating!
Im in Australia now, Melbourne, and it so far is super! and i havent seen any spiders yet!!
Well id better go, got a nice hot cuppa to drink!
Love you all so much, thankyou all for the messages you leave, its so good to hear what you are all up too, when i feel homesick, it really cheers me up. will get round to uploading my pics, asap. love you xxx
