Awe & wonder!!
Today was a totally unforgettable experience!
It started with a tour around the old harbour where we took part in traditional Chinese fishing, we helped lower the giant fishing nets into the water & then raised them to see our catch which included a catfish!
We then moved on to explore some of the old town which included a Jewish quarter, palace & the oldest Christian church in India. We also took a stop at the wash towns house & saw woman preparing their washing for the following day!
We were lucky enough to be invited to a local villages Hindi festival by our guide. The festival involved the dressing of the elephant, fireworks & traditional dancing! As soon as we arrived we were treated like royalty & we soon realised we were the only tourists there! They even went & found seats for us to sit in at the front of the crowd! We then were asked to feed the elephants so the four of us were each given a big bunch of bananas to feed him! We were really taken with the local girls, they were fascinated to meet us & asked us lots of questions about England! The whole village were full of smiles for us it was a truly wonderful experience! A parade of instruments, dancers, woman carrying lanterns, people dressed as gods followed the elephant as it paraded through the village! I think this will be an experience which will stay in all our minds for a life time, we feel so fortunate to have witnessed this festival!
So far India has overwhelmed all our senses, the colours, the tastes, the people, the sights all absolutely stunning!
Lots of love xxxxxxx
