Hello everyone
Well we are now in Koh Samui, we flew at 7am this morning and I can tell you that it was the biggest relief to get out of Bangkok. Emma and I really were not too impressed, although we did have a good laugh there and it was good to experience it. Lets just say though thast we wont be going back in a hurry!!!!! I was still feeling really poorly yesterday but I really wanted to get up and do some sight seeing and so I dragged myself out of bed and we decided to walk to the Grand Palace which we were told was only a "short" walk. However, us being us, didnt exactly dress accordingly and so half way there, we were told by various people that if we were going to the Palace then we would have to cover ourselves up and change our clothes. Fair enough, we didnt want to be disrespectful and so we went back to the hotel and got changed, we both had long trousers on and sarongs to cover our shoulders. WE then found out that the Palace was closed until 1pm as Saturday is their holy day. Great start to the morning hey, and theres me literally struggling to even walk as my body aches so much, I swear this is some knd of crazy Thai Flu that I have, I have been sneezing at least 40 times a day and thatrs no exageration. Anyway we then made the stupid mistake of getting a tuk tuk to some of the sights and got ripped up completely as the tuk tuk drivers ( who by the way for those of you that dont know, tuk tuks are tiny little motor bikes and sit in the little seat in the back, they are crazy) get commission to take you into these suit shops but you are literally forced to stay in there?! We didnt want to buy anything and everyone was getting so stroppy with us! They are crazy drivers too and I think its safe to say that we are lucky to be alive!!!!!!
WE also got on a water taxi yesterday which was nice, and saw some of the sights, but when we eventually arrived at the Palace ( which we had been waiting to go to all day), they still wouldnt let us in, even though we were completely covered! I dont think they lke us very much. So, we sacked that off and decided to go shopping at one of the huge markets! BIG MISTAKE!!! It was the biggest market Ive ever seen in my life, it was literally lik a huge maze and when we were in, we couldnt get out! WE kept walking around in circles, and it was so hot, oh and there was no toilet and Em bless her was bursting! It was good to go though and see all the local craft etc. Dont worry though, we didnt stop shopping and we went back to Khoa San Road and got ourselves some right bargains!!!! I love the clothes over here, dirt cheap. We also committed a bad sin and we have to admitt that we were so hungry and couldnt face the local food, so we had a ........subway! Yummy, it was so nice to get some home comforts inside us! I kow, what are we like hey.
The funniest thing about our little adventurous day yesterday was when we decided to go and see one of these famous "shows" we have both heard so much about! Well, we have to fill you in when we get back, but basically we were ripped off! And it was one of the most funniest but yet disturbing things I have ever seen in my life! All good fun though.
So we left Bangkok this morning and we got a mini bus to the Airport, we were both a little scared as our luggage was on top of the roof and bnot even strapped on properly, em and I were both half asleep as it was 5am, but halfway there, the bus broke down, it was scary cos out of nowhere, lots of smoke and steam started filling the bus up, I actually though that bus was going to blow up!!!!! Me and Em just sat there and hoped for the best!!! The engine had over heated or something and so we stood at the side of the road and had to wait for another bus to pick us up. We were worried as we thought we were going to miss our flight to Koh Samui, but we just made it, as they were about to close the check in! Phew, another little adventure for us. But anyways I am SOOOOOOO glad we are out of Bangkok, and now into civilisation.
We are staying in Lamai, a cute little town down in the South of Koh Samui and we are staying in the most gorgeous accommodation, little chalets on the hill overlooking the sea, which is so pretty. We manged to get it at a good price and we really are living in luxury at the moment! Its fab. We both had an hour full body oil massage this morning (not to make any of you jealous or anything if you are sat at work reading this ;-) ) it was the best massage I've ever had, Em and I were in our element, on the beach, overlooking the sea, just relaxing and listning to the waves! Pure heaven!!!!!!! This place is gorgeous! And its not even supposed to be the best, we really are being spoilt.
Hoping to stay here a couple more nights, then going to try and head to Koh Toa which is supposed to be gorgeous, and we will try and find some accommodation on the island, although its gunna be packed because of the full moon party! Lets hope we find somewhere!!!!!!
Just waiting to watch the Chelsea/ Forest match now ( Rich I told you I would watch it), and Emma has just had her first Thai Green Curry (she had ketchup, i know yuck, haha, not that I can talk), I cant face any more of the Thai food over here, I have tried but my stomach just doesnt seem to want to eat any of it!!!! ( I have already spotted a Mcdonalds just up the road)
Well, hope you are all well and its not too cold over there ;-) Its boiling over here!!!!!
Love always to everyone, Lor and Emz. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
