hello!!! went to the Elephant Sanctuary yesterday for the day, and it was amazing!! It cost a lot of money (compared to the prices here) but it was well worth it. We got picked up by the cutest man ever, he was so happy and always laughing and when we asked him how long he'd been working for he said "1 year and 12 days" awwww! melanie wanted to marry him LOL!

There were only 10 tourists there which was ace because in high season i bet it would be crowded. In the morning we stopped off at a market to get their food - bags and bags of it!!! Then we arrived, at the park, it was well nice really 'eco'. We got to feed the elephants on this platform and the babies kissed us with their trunks! It was very slobbery! We then had lunch which was HUGE buffet yummy with lots of choice.

Then it was off to the river to bathe the ele's. We got a bit wet, but it was so fun :-)

We sat in a bamboo hut for a while talking about the elephant problems in thailand, like the ones begging on the street etc. And we watched a video, which made me feel awful for trekking on the elephants on our trek :-(

We talked to a few of the mahouts ('elephant keepers') which was cool. Then we went for a second bathing session in the river. Which turned into a massive water fight with the mahouts!! For some reason melanie and I were the only ones who got absolutely drenched......the old couples stayed dry and didnt get involved!!!! lol. Got bashed by elephant dung floating down the river a few times and we didnt have any change of clothes so we had to sit on the minibus in our wet smelly clothes, think the other tourists were glad when we got off!!! hahaha. Was such a cool day though, wish we had done the 2 or 3 days trip there instead of trekking but oh well.

We went to the night market again last night, its so good & massive! we are now experts at bartering (or melaniy is coz i feel too bad!). Got too many things, and when we checked out of our rooms earlier looked like proper bag ladies!

WE're getting the horrible night bus back to bangkok tonight (urgh) and then going to some island but we're not sure where yet as cant make our minds up!
