To the Maori tribes in New Zealand, this spiral design is called the Koru. Mimicking the frond of the fern, it represents the unfolding of new life, hope, and renewal, bringing purity to the world. The Koru is also known to symbolize peace, tranquility and spirituality. It represents humans working together in harmony. And if that isn't enough, the Koru is often associated with nurturing; reminding humans of the strength and love within the family relationship. It embodies everything a conscious living soul needs to be reminded of the good things to hold onto and strive for in life.
For me, this symbol invokes an awareness of personal growth and the potential for new beginnings.
Today was a rainy day in paradise. It started out simply gorgeous and then the clouds started rolling in and the rain started to fall. Well, it's only weather and I know that I do not have any control over it (although I did promise Teva that I would do my best to make sure that it would be fine at the wedding and that, actually it would be perfect. He proceeded to say to me that no matter the weather, the wedding would be perfect (that's my boy!).
After a lovely breakfast out on the deck and a long talk with our hosts, we went off to town to do what some do on a rainy day---shop! We took the littleferry over to Whitianga and Debbie found something nice for the wedding and I got some flip flops and a barthing suit that fits (so I can take Kin swimming in Wellington).
We arrived back at the flat and just hung out for most of the day. Our hosts were given 2 very large crayfish (lobster) and they threw them on the barbecue and we were invited for an appetiser-scrumptious!
Tomorow we head to Rotorua and will stay overnight there. Don't know if we will have internet access--but will catch up as soon as we do
