Car trip again....mmmm. We started off a bit later as the alarm didn't go off. Enough time to eat breakfast and get on the road. We filled up the beast and started our 6 hr journey to Nashville. I was a bit tired so Paul drove...scary and I dozed on and off. We had read a lot of warnings about the truck stoa for this area but we found them interesting and yummy. We stopped a couple of times for water before we found a pumpkin and fruit stand, very cute and American so grabbed some fruit and headed back on the freeway as the toilets at the servo were less than minimum standards for hygiene so kept going. We made a stop further along as it had a subway at the servo so grabbed some salad rolls. There was an Amish lady all decked out in the dress standard buying a hotdog and big gulp....now you don't see that everyday. People are finding it harder to understand us in the south than over on the west. We kept going until we hit Nashville, not sure what I was expecting but it looked like an industrial city. We checked into our hotel where the receptionist was fascinated by my accent and jealous we have koalas. We are closer by to the grand ole opry so drove down to have a look, quite spectacular looking building. We then headed to the cowboys hall of fame which involved Paul driving on the wrong side of the street and driving over a large garbage bag full of rubbish, tension was definitely in the car. Our gps did not take into consideration all the closed roads for construction. We reached our destination and it was closed....awesome. So plan b took effect. We headed off to the dukes of hazard museaum and willie nelson museaum and store. They were fantastic and interesting so plan b was turning out to be better. By this time the stomachs were grumbling so decided on a ranch style building that specialised in gater and catfish. The inside was amazing apart from the country music. Many dead animals on the wall and great service. We ordered a bit of everything....double the amount we could eat. They have fresh catfish swimming near the tables.....tasted fantastic and we even saw the waiters scar from catching catfish. Once back at the hotel I sat on the porch in the rocking chair with the receptionist talking about our cultural differences, she was going to quote me on her Facebook as apparently I was interesting....who knew. Paul and the kids went go karting next door and on for a walk. What a day....a lot of fun but need to be up early ready to go to memphis to see Graceland and some other things.
