We officially adore New Zealand! After our Magic experience in the South Island we came up to the North to meet Leanne finally!!! It has been amazing even with the biggest storm in who knows how many years attacking Auckland as we arrived. We now feel we have an amazing Kiwi family that have looked after us, made us laugh and with whom we really have felt as comfortable as with our own families.
Highlights in the North Island:
Meeting all the people around Leanne, our Kiwi family: Kiwi dad Graham, Kiwi mum Anna, Kiwi nephew Boston, Kiwi sister Leanne, Kiwi sis in law Dannielle, Kiwi brother Michael, Kiwi bro in law Craig, Kiwi sister Mel, Kiwi super Nana, Kiwi uncle Alan, Kiwi Auntie Rona, Kiwi cousins Becky and Lawrence (who we will soon see in London), Kiwi Auntie Vicky, Kiwi Uncle Ian, Kiwi cousin beautiful Brook, Ida and Murray. And of course all the girls!!! Thank you to all. You are amazing and we can't wait to see you soon. We will definitely be in touch..you like it or not. Oh! Jacob and Jordan we will also miss you.
Meeting our car for the week, the wonderful Berg.
Leanne teaching us what it is to do 'real backpacking' in New Zealand in a cabin in Turangi. Until she started freezing to death and remembered that it is only normally done in the summer.
Staying with Tash and Gareth in their beautiful house looking out to lake Taupo. All our little excursions in the area (Huka falls, Honey centre, Craters of the Moon) and becoming addicted to a puzzle so that we slept 3 hours on our last night with them.
The amazing 12.000 (Lola) and 15.000 (Uxio) feet sky jumps. Oh my goodness!! A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Leanne suffered the nerves for both of us but we managed to calm her down.
Staying at the orchard with Nana, uncle Ian, aunt Vicky, Brook, Ida and Murray. Amazing people in an amazing place surrounded by amazing pottery!
Whakarewarewa Maori village and spending the afternoon in the Polynesian Spas in Rotorua soaking in hot mineral, egg smelling, water looking out onto the lake. Amazing, it could become an addiction. Orakei Korako's beautiful sights. Out of this world.
Mixing with the most dangerous Maori men in Auckland at the Fat Camel.
Arriving at our Kiwi Home Sweet Home where we have done lots of eating, sleeping, chatting, laughing, playing cranium and a little singing on the sing star. Best singer Mel, worst singer with the best attitude Leanne. It has been fabulous to be here!
Family excursions to the zoo, sky tower, museum, RSA (to feed the addiction that Alethea and Keiran introduced us to!) beaches, cafes and a night out with the girls.
Electric blankets, Moro, Trifle and Pavlova, Pinky bars, hoky poky ice cream, pineapple lumps and dad's pies.
We are sad to leave and look forward to seeing everyone again. Maybe next time we should come back in the summer. Goodbye to beautiful New Zealand and Chile here we come!! Lots of cousins to see!
Other highlights:
Forgot to mention a really cool service in Christchurch Cathedral were we got to listen to beautiful music, burn a paper with things to forget, light a candle for things to remember and plant a branch for future wishes. Great stuff
All the amazingly good news we have received from home, especially Raquel and Janos and our favourite Carlos tying the knot!!!
Finding out that Filemon is a short funny man with lots of energy and an accordingly funny and perfect woman for him. Ela ela ela.
Kiwi dad Graham, Kiwi mum Anna, Kiwi nephew Boston, Kiwi sister Leanne, Kiwi sis in law Dannielle, Kiwi brother Michael, Kiwi bro in law Craig, Kiwi sister Mel, Kiwi super Nana, Kiwi uncle Alan, Kiwi Auntie Rona, Kiwi cousins Becky and Lawrence (who we will soon see in London), Kiwi Auntie Vicky, Kiwi Uncle Ian, Kiwi cousin beautiful Brook, Ida and Murray. Y la pandilla de chicas. Muchas gracias a todos. Nos apetece mucho volveros a ver. Estaremos en contacto?aunque no querais. Ah!
Ela Ela Ela
