The flight to Kathmandu was awful it was three hours delayed (we never found out why), was ridiculously hot and every other passenger was part of a large group of very loud Indian families one of whom you guys could probably hear snoring. Thankfully it was only just over an hour and Kathmandu is fantastic.
I won't update you to much on what we have been up to here, mainly because most of it has been spent in the room ill, but we love the city. The people are wonderfully friendly, there are more gear shops than even Gareth could get round (and trust me he has tried) and the food....so far we have tracked down cheesecake, lasagne, club sandwiches and the worlds best chips.
We will update properly on Wednesday and hopefully upload some more photos as on Thursday we are off to start the Annapurna Circuit so you won't here from us for three weeks. Whilst we are trekking Nepal is holding its first election in years and the first in which the maoists are taking part so things could get pretty hairy in Kathmandu but we should be safe enough in the mountains. When we get back we will have to see how the situation is in Tibet as currently the Chinese are not letting anyone in so we may have to rethink our route. If this means spending a little longer in Nepal then that is absolutely fine with us.
Hope you are well
All our love
Laura and Gareth
