During our stay in Mongolia we managed to get out to a firing range run by the military and if you know the right people and pay the right money, you can shoot some of their fire-arms. There were a few to choose from and we both tried out the two different machine guns and Loche had great fun firing a bazuka. Check out the video on the video link on this site.
We managed to change our flight to go to Berlin, via Moscow, instead of going to Hong Kong as originally planned. So we left Mongolia on Sunday 19 Feb (after being delayed 6 hours). We arrived in Berlin a bit after 6pm, stayed in a hotel for the night and flew into Manchester the next afternoon.
As much as I enjoyed the experience of going to Mongolia in the middle of winter, I didn't realise how very happy I was to be out of there until we arrived in Berlin - Berlin was heaven!!
It was lovely to finally arrive in England and catch up with all the rellies...we have been talking about it for so long, I was starting to wonder if we'd ever get here. We have been made to feel so very welcome from everyone, and Cara is loving spending time with her pommy family!
So far we have spent a day doing the tourist thing in nearby York, which is full of history. We toured the city on an open topped bus, visited the rail musuem and visited the Jorvich Centre which is built on an archeological site which uncovered the remains of a viking settlement. We have also been to a few English pubs and had some wonderful meals.
I've uploaded a lot of new photos of our adventures so far, so check them out in the photos section.
It also looks like Loche has found us a Landrover Discovery to explore the countryside in, so we are hoping to pick that up on the weekend.
We have all been plagued with jetlag and the flu, hence the reason for the lateness of this update.
We will be in Howden for another week or two and then we're hopefully heading to Wales to go Narrow boating on the Llangollen Canal, before making our way down to London, Dover and across to France.
