Today was our last day in Kanchanaburi and I would probably say it was the hottest! So, to bring you up to speed:
Yesterday we walked up to the bridge over the river kwai for which Kanchanaburi is famous so that we could take some photos and get a good look at the town. While we were there we saw a baby elephant which I think Rachel was more interested in!
The bridge was crawling with coach parties and was very busy so we didn't stay long, only long nough to take some photos and to look around the little market for a bit. In the afternoon we went to visit the Thailand - Burma railway museum which we should have visited first. It was really informative about the building of the railway and gave a very moving account of the prisoners of war that lost their lives building it.
Today we took the train from Kanchanaburi station to Nam Tok, riding across the bridge and following the death railway. The scenery was fantastic but at the same time it made us realise how hard it was for those that built the railway.
Tomorrow we re going to catch the train back to Bangkok, spend one night there and then head to Ayutthaya, the old capital.
