It has almost been 60 days now and I was reflecting upon my experiences. I am sure I will do this many times over. But, especially today I was thinking how easy we have it in the US. I take for granted I can load dishes in the dish washer. I am so glad I brought with me plastic gloves to give to one housewife. Her hands are so chapped from water use and cleaning the dishes. They felt scard and rough. She was so grateful. I haven't driven for two months. I am so thankful for our transportation system of roads and freeways and the freedom to drive in a safe and orderly fashion. I remember sleeping with my clothes on and with my coat. How blessed we are to have in home heating. Yes, I was lucky enough to only use a squatty potty once. But, most of the time I used a bucket method for bathing. I missed my warm shower. Many times I could shower but it was cold. Also, I am thinking of the large and beautiful homes that I saw with the astonishing and hard fact that so many people are very poor and live under a tarp or what ever else they can find. I was thinking about how the US poor complain and demand so much as they sit in their government paid housing with over sized TV's. It certainly is not poor from what I have seen. Mostly I have found true to my word we are more alike than we are different. We all want peace and happiness for ourselves and families. And, I have seen how important it is to have a space to call your own even if it is 3ft square. It seems to be human nature to need that space no matter what. The bargaining ways are definitely not US ways. I found at most corners of India I am very poor at bargaining. Being blonde and from the US created a target mentality for many merchants. I found the food amazing. I have never felt better from eating pure vegetarian. The Indian knows the benefit of the food they eat and when to eat it. That was eye opening. Over all each day was a rich experience I found it is easy to adapt to what is needed. I made wonderful friends, helped so many people, and saw wonderful and amazing things. Different! I love India as much or more now as the day I arrived.
