The day of Holi is a celebration of complete happiness. I was priveleged to witness the traditional holiday.
It starts the evening before the day of Holi. The men of the village bring a torch for the community bon fire. This signafies the unity of the community and the beginning of the holiday. If there is any ranker between anyone it completely disappears forever.
The morning of Holi starts with a religious ceremony, followed by the fun and play with vivid wet colors. Anyone and everyone is a target. So, you better make up your mind to play and have fun.
After lunch we discussed our day and prepared for the evening. Everyone in the village dressed up and came to honor me as a guest. There was a steady crowd of community for about 5 hours. And, by the way the evening had dry vivid colors that also was applied liberally to my face after touching my feet first. LOL All in fun with loving joy.
Late night the Holi holiday ended with a 20 piece band singing joyfully in front of their temple.
All is well in this village today.
