This is great - something to do whilst I am recovering from a major knee operation.

So this is the very first blog entry. And what coincidence, starting my blog the very day that the Olympics start. If it wasn't for my poorly knee, I may have been playing football for GB today.

I am home alone as my dear wife, Kay, has seen fit to take her friend Martina shopping this afternoon, instead of looking after me. But never mind, I will cope on my own for a few hours. They are due to return about 6pm with a shellfish supper, so that is something to look forward to.

I got the idea for this blog from our daughter Polly, who has just set one up ready for the family holiday, when she and our 2 grandchildren, Zac & Milly, come out to France on Friday. My leg will need to be fully recovered by then.

I have put some white and rose wine in to chill, ready for the shellfish. The white is a Picpoul, its a local grape and goes wonderfully with seafood. It is also reputed to be very good for arthritic knees. I am sure that's what the french guy said, but then again, my french is not as good as it should be.

I may follow up with the verdict on the takeaway later, but I am anxious to see what happens when I hit "Save & Publish" - and be dammed !
