Full moon tonight, not a great picture taken with the iPad but gives a bit of a sense of what it's like. As you can expect amazing skies as very little light pollution or clouds.
So what's new? Well it's amazing how quickly you can get into the routine of relaxing and enjoying the surroundings. I am really surprising myself on how much I like being here on my own.
I only have one more dive left until I pass my open water. The skills were a bit tricky and I had a couple of full on panic attacks where it just feels like your throat is closing up and you just can't breath but I got through it! It's getting better too. When it's calm it is like being in an aquarium - the fish are amazing as well as the coral. I was down at almost 18m today which is the maximum for the open water diving course I am doing.
So it's nearly dinner time, there have been quite a few people at the bar - well the owners and managers! We've all been enjoying the full moon and planning a bit of a 11/11/11 full moon party tomorrow night and get some local villagers in to play the drums - so should be good.
They have just pointed out that I have been sat under a snack all this time. Apparently thanks goodness a harmless one! She's quite pretty, white and small. But I'm happy she's in the roof and not any closer.
So what else have I been doing. I went for a bush walk to another isolated beach - pretty hot but felt like you were right out in the bush. It's the end of the dry season so not a lot of green around but there are some impressive baobab trees. Apparently they are hollow inside - for some reason one of me and my sisters favourite childhood books - The Folk of The Far Away Tree springs to mind - I ended up reminiscing with Monica one of the managers about it - strange conversations you have out in the bush!
The following day after the walk, at 5.45am I went for a run along the same path. Pretty hard going as the path is sandy and even at that time it started getting quite warm. That afternoon I went with some others on a sea kayak into the mangroves - very peaceful, lovely greens making a change from the browns of the rest of the bush.
So I have 3 full days left to fit in a visit to the local community, a visit to a lighthouse near by which apparently has amazing views and another dive!
