So, I am finishing off my little jaunt.
I had a marvellous time in NSW and then flew over to the wonderful Western Australian coast.
I have got to know the city a little better this time. I've wandered round Freo and found out a fair bit about it's history, the settlers, convicts, shipwrecks and so forth. Tis really very interesting. I also managed to get a bit of art/theatre under my belt which was lush. I made my own memories of the place this time and I definately have a fondness for it.
My next stop was Rottnest Island. It's about 30mins by boat from Freo. The most glorious time to myself. Stunning views, history and QUIET!! I have not heard such peace in a while. It was so nice to go to sleep and hear the sea! I went there to relax and indulge my need to be near a beach! The clear waters and white sands of WA were just as beautiful here, maybe more so with a rugged quality to them in places.
I cycled 37.5k round the island and down to various coves, making sure I stopped off at a beach with nobody on it for morning tea, lunch and to top up the tan a touch before heading back to my cabin. Was just what I needed. I was able to shut myself off from the TV, Facebook and my phone for almost 3 days. I could have stayed there longer.
The day after I returned to the main land I went from sublime to slightly ridiculous and took myself to indulge my inner rev head at the V8s. Not as exciting as the F1 but it was enjoyable all the same.
Saturday saw a lovely catch up with a very talented friend. Also the another goodbye. This time it dawned on me how little time I have left here. That has got me down a bit. I have so much going in in my little head now I just want to go back to the Island and de-clutter again.
This led to my decision today to head back to Freo and do some more wandering. Drink great coffee and eat yummy food while enjoying the sea and the markets. I sat, looking out to the west eating paella, contemplating whether it was possible to swim to Rottnest and hide. :)
Tomorrow is my touristy/exploration of Perth CBD. I have a plan of attack and a coffee shop with my name on it! I want to waste as much time as possible so I am not just sitting around waiting for the time when I have to head to the airport.
I'm looking forward to seeing everyone in Brissie again, but it just means the inevitable is closer.
I shall just have to enjoy tomorrow all the more. :)
