Steve: We travelled by bus over the Thai/Cambodia border which took about 6 hours. We got to this city called Siem Reap which was pretty cool.
We went to Angkor Wat (photo) which is one of the 7 wonders of the world - it's loads of really ancient temples. We got there for sunrise which was amazing! Tomb Raider was filmed there too. Loads of the temples were overgrown by nature and had random trees growing out of them.
On that evening we went for dinner in this really poor Cambodian village and ate dinner on this decking thing and helped these Cambodian children by speaking English with them.
We went to Phnom Penh (the capital) and went to this place called S21. It used to be a high school but in the 1970's this evil dictator Pol Pot took over and turned it into a torture prison. There were loadsa photos and our tour guide gave very graphic descriptions of how people were tortured. It was a really sombre place and a bit like a concentration camp. After that we went to The Killing Fields which is the site of mass genocide graves which was really sad too.
Next we went to Sihanoukville which was the first place by the beach. It was paradise! Our hotel was literally on the beach. We went on a boat tour where we went snorkelling (loads of jellyfish around!) and went to this island which was amazing and had its own beach. We went out to these bars on the beach in the evening and beer was the equivalent of 20p!! There were these crazy Asian fire dancing people who kept dropping their fire everywhere..
You all know I love food and Asia has not disappointed so far! So much food all the time and it's so cheap.
