Nha Trang
We arrived from Hoi An and discoverd that there was not much 'sight seeing' to do in the sea side city...so we didnt. We just lazed on the beach and enjoyed the night life. We went to a really cool halloween party on the beach, where there was a DJ from ministry of sound. We started the night drinking buckets and discovered that they were leathal! We managed to end up talking to someone who worked at the club on the beach so got in his jeep and got in free! We danced the night away and ended up eating steak and egg on a street corner. It was so rank ( the stall not the food) but we were drunk. We both had to stay in bed all day as we were so ill and had to leave early that night as I was sick on the street. We have discovered we are the worst binge drinkers ever! We only stayed a few nights as we thought we could have been on any piss up holiday and figured our livers would suffer! Got on the horrible bus again and I had a Vitenamese man next to me ( you lie next to eachother at the back) i HATED it and was pretty much trying to spoon Alex the whole time in order that his body didn't touch mine. Didn't sleep a wink and was very tired when we got to Saigon.
Saigon
Our first impressions of Saigon were that it was just another Big City. We were not proven other wise. It was easy to walk around and fairly tourist friendly but its history had more to offer than character in my opinion. We went to a war memorial museum. It was HORRIFIC and but gave you a real insight to what went on. We got to see tanks and planes and an exhibition on some of the photgraphers from the war. I dont know how the people did it, civilains and soilders but it was really interesting even though it was disturbing. My highlight of Saigon was the Chi Cho tunnels which was out further from the city. I cant believe what went on and the tunnels were tiny. If you dont like small spaces ...well awful. The gorillas were outnumbered with men and amo but because of their statergies and tunnels they help win the war . We were shocked by some of the traps and excited as we got to fire some big guns! We both could not help jumping when it went off and loved the thrill from shooting it! Apparenlty nobody else on the tour wanted to anything and we were a tad embarrased as we felt like louts climbing on tanks, getting in holes and shooting guns but hey we had a really good day!
We also went to a fanatstic temple which hosts a form of worship made up of differnt religions! Hinduism . Buddism and Christianity! We were allowed to watch them pray which was really insightful as they all wore differnt colours depending on what religion they were. It was the most colourful temple i have ever seen and we really enjoyed being able to see what went on as a practical place and not just looking at the temple.
We left Saigon for Phom Phen by bus which was really good. We got over the boarder with no visa and passport trouble. As soon as we entered Cambodia i could not help notice how lush, tropical and beautiful the landscape was but also how poor and dirty the people were.....
