Morning all!
Well we have been in Non-stop rain since we left for our Bottom Bus tour but has not stopped us seeing amazing wildlife! Yellow eyed penguins, sealions & seals yesterday - Extreem wildlife watching hey! They were so cool!
Following on from previous blog we left Nelson for a night in Westport, which to be honest was nothing special, it rained, we cooked, played cards - very unextreem! So the next night armed with our binbags we went fancy dress shopping for our night @ the poo pub party! A tiny pub&motel in the middle of nowhere, run by 81 year old "Les the Legend", it was hilarious. The 6 of us girls went as Devils & Angels and we went all out on making tails, halos, skirts, the full shebang it was so much fun. The lads were all in drag and so our wardrobes were raided and we were drag queen make up artists for the night, the Benetint came in very handy!
Woken up at a ridiculous hour to carry on our trip we stopped for hangover breakfast at the Bushman Centre - for RoadKill pie ( possums basically!) ew, sick! Arrived in Franz Josef and headed straight to bed in order to refresh ourselves for our hike the next day. Started off in groups of 11 togged out in glacier hiking boots and full waterproofs, all very attractive as you can imagine. What an awesome day! We got right into the Glacier, through caves and crevasses, the most amazing colours of ice i've ever seen! Awesome! Feeling very proud of our 11k hike we took full advantage of the hostel bars happy hour, well deserved we think!
We picked up a new driver in Franz Josef and headed to a beautiful town called Wanaka - set with the backdrop of gorgeous mountains and a huge lake. Soph headed to quirkiest cinema ever, with Sofas & and an interval break where they served fesh warm cookies, yum! Shame we couldn't spend more time there but we headed for party city Queenstown the next day! Starting to feel extreem again Soph took the plunge and did a tandem bungy with our mate Amy. A 43m bridge jump into clear blue water! I couldn't watch, never been so nervous for anyone in my life but she did it. With hilarious screams and screeches of "Extreem", i think she enjoyed it. Alas, despite saying i'd never do a bungy in my life i went for the big 134m Nevis the next day slightly hungover! Well, this is my new cure for a hangover! It was brill and i've got a great DVD so will have to put on a screening when i get home! Lucky you lot!
Anyway off to catch our bus to finish our tour of the deep south! Have lots more to write about Queenstown so watch this space!
Hope you're all well xxx
