Hello everyone!
Hope you're all well. Apologies for the lack of contact over the last couple of weeks, I will be sending emails v soon I promise!
We are now in Franz Josef and are booked to do the 8hr glacier hike tomorrow, very excited! It looks like it'll be raining all day but waterproofs are provided thank G (it's been pouring constantly for the last 2days meep)
Right a lot has happened since we last blogged....where to start?
- ROTORUA - very smelly place because of the sulphur pools, pooeey! Anna and I went 'zorbing' which involved getting into a big inflatable ball, adding some water and being pushed down a hill - HILARIOUS! Visited polynesian spa pools literally on lake Rotorua and watched sunset, stayed till we were pruned and smelt of smelly eggs, very relaxing though. Went white water rafting on Kiatuna River and went down highest commercial waterfall, 7m. V scary and flipped when we went over it, after a few mouthfulls of water we all magaged to get back into the raft. Photos so funny, they will follow.
- WHAKATANE, OHOPE - stayed with Anna's relatives in a beautiful little seaside place, weather lovely so went on wicked coastal walk and visited the beach with all the kids - they're all incredibly boisterous but so cute! Barry and Sue made us feel really at home, it was nice to relax there for a while. They treated us to the best fush n chups we've had since we've been in NZ at Ohope harbour - sweet!
- WAITOMO - Joined our fellow Kiwi Experience travellers again to go black water rafting. AMAZING! Kitted out in unbelievbly tight wet suits, gum boots n helmet with torch we went down into the Waitomo caves, floated along in rubber rings, jumped off waterfalls in the dark backwards, climbed and saw loads of glow worms. Was really cold and tiring but one of the best things I've ever done in my life! The new bus load of people were really wicked so we've all stayed together since then.
- TAUPO - This is where did did the most EXTREEEEM thing so far guys! Anna and I decided to take the plunge and do the 15,000 ft sky dive RAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!! Went up with the girls in a teeny plane that holds 14ppl max I think. Everyone said I looked petrifed on the way up and the fact we had to wear oxygen masks after 9,000 ft freaked me out even more. Anyway, words cannot describe the jump - it was just immense! We had a minute freefall which felt like it was never going to end and then after the parachute opened glided around taking the view in. It was breathtaking, saw all round the lake, coastlines of NZ - just WOW!
Spent New Year here which was very fun, maybe one of the best New Years so far! On the way to River Valley we stopped off at the Tongariro National Park for a bit of a trek - again, amazing views. Saw Mt Doom from Lord of the Rings (cool) and jumped off a 7m waterfall (stood at top for about 10 mins until I could finally do it - prob more scared doing that than the sky dive lol - EXTREEM!)
Run out of tinternet time now so will complete later on.......
Love to you all, moi xxxxxxxx
