Sunday morning we were both a little worse for wear after the previous night's adventures, but we bravely ventured into town nonetheless & found a lovely little café, called Angel's coffee, serving fantastic brekky in an outdoor patio with big, comfy, cushy white chairs! So we recuperated there for a while, chowing down on eggs, bacon & OJ, enjoying the warm summer sunshine. Summer is in full swing here in Europe now & it's crazy how quickly things heat up. Out of the sun it's not so bad, but if you're walking around out of the shade for a while it gets really hot, really fast!
After brekky we went for a stroll around the town & looked at all the beautiful architecture of the old city. Because Prague was largely undamaged in WW2 it's buildings are all centuries old & are a beautiful example of the evolution of different styles of architecture across history. There have been a lot of restrictions around the construction of new buildings, such that the "old feel" of the city is very well preserved. And it's just beautiful! We walked past Charles bridge to a park near the river and lay on a bench in the shade there for a while…more recuperating :P Then later in the afternoon we headed back to the hostel for another trusty nanna nap ;)
In the evening we went on a dinner cruise along the main river that runs through Prague & it was a really lovely way to see the city at night & to do something a bit different. We sat up on the top level of a barge in the open air munching away & listening to a very talented musician who played about 4 different kinds of instruments throughout the night (& some of my favourite music…Girl from Ipanema, Eidelweiss, As Time Goes By…all that good stuff hehe). Because Prague has so many big, old towers, all of which are wonderfully lit, the city is especially beautiful at nighttime. Quite a site to see! I was falling asleep on Nigel's shoulder in the minibus on the way back to the hostel but it was a really wonderful night & I can now easily see why so many of my friends who've traveled to Prague loved it so much :)
