When we arrived in Prague we were determined to break our nightlife curse. Thus far it seemed that whenever we tried to go out for a night on the town something went wrong…I was sick, or you needed some stupid reservation to get into a club, or we got lost, or the bar was closed for renovations!! I mean, I know I'm a bit of an old soul, but come on! Can I not have a successful night out Europe please?? Well yes, yes I can. We broke the curse in Prague :)
We got into Prague in the early afternoon & pretty easily found our way to our hostel, Hostel One. We had our own private room, which was actually more like a mini apartment with a bedroom, bathroom, AND separate little kitchen/living room area…all for only ~AU$30 each per night! Gotta love the cheap living in Prague ;) The staff were really great & the girl at the front desk when we got in spent some time going over a map of the city with us, making recommendations about good places to eat, sightsee, party etc. So we settled in, grabbed something to eat, & then had an afternoon nanna nap in preparation for our big night out hehe
In the evening we went to a burger joint that the hostel staff had recommended which did great burgers for super, SUPER cheap, then we returned to our room to crack open our bottle of Rose. Now, for God's knows what reason, we've been carting this bottle of Rose around with us since Paris, waiting for an opportunity to drink it. That might have made sense if it was a really nice bottle of wine, but no, it cost 4 euro. Anyway, it's a pain in the ass to carry so we figured we'd better get rid of the damn thing. So we toasted, took a sip, & both pretty much spat it straight out. It was AWFUL!! I mean, I don't know what we expected for 4 euro, but it was actually undrinkable! At least we don't have to carry it any more… :P
Around 9:30 we headed downstairs to the basement bar & chatted to the owner of the hostel & a whole bunch of lovely Dutch students. They were all over here on some study tour thing, & there were about 50 of them, & us! So they invited us to head out with them to Karlovy Lazne, which is this huge 5 story discothèque that's famous for being the biggest club in Europe. It's known to be pretty touristy & isn't really a place the locals go, but it's awesome none-the-less, & the great thing is, with 5 floors to choose from, you know you're gonna find some music to suit your taste! In my case…old school :D
They have a whole floor dedicated to disco & it's pretty much my idea of heaven! It's got a light up flashing dance floor & it's the kinda set list where every single song is one of those "Omg I LOVE this song!" moments. So we rocked out there until about 2:00AM, which is about the time that all the real hard core Prague partiers are just beginning their nights & then we grabbed a slice of pizza & went home. It was a great, great night out! :)
