Went for a wander down town on Tuesday, exploring my favourite Canadian shops along Robson Street…Roots, Lulu Lemon, Boarders…aaaaah all the happy memories came flooding back! :D Bought myself a pair of Roots tracky pants (BEST tracky pants on earth!) & some Lulu Lemon yoga pants (BEST yoga pants on earth! Hehe). I told the guy at Lulu Lemon that I needed to stock up because we don't have this awesome store in Australia. He was like, yeah I'm pretty sure you do…I'm like well not in Perth. He's like, so that's not anywhere near Sydney. I'm like uh…no, not even remotely. I'm just about as likely to get over to Sydney to buy a pair of pants as I am to come to Canada for them! :P
In the afternoon I took the Greyhound bus up to Whistler…now THAT brought back happy memories :) It was SO much less busy than it is in the winter time. Normally any time you take a Greyhound bus to or from Whistler in the winter, it's packed full of people & you have to get there super early to get a seat. But this time there were only about 15 or 20 people on the bus. So I had a gloriously empty seat next to me & I was able to stretch out & have a nap for a while :) That is, when I wasn't busy staring out the window at the beautiful view…the Sea to Sky Highway from Vancouver to Whistler is one of the most beautiful drives I've ever experienced in my life. You wind up into the mountains along the coastline, with the mountains rising up on one side of you & the cliffs down to the sea on the other side.
I met my friend Jess at the bus stop when I arrived. Jess was one of the girls who lived in the house with me when I was in Whistler (me, Jess, & about 10 other people - typical Whistler living arrangements!) & she has been doing seasons in Whistler & Wannaka (in New Zealand) ever since. She's a keen skier (& bloody good at it too), and she's taken to biking down mountains like a crazy woman in the summertime. This summer she's living right in the centre on Whistler Village with her boyfriend Dan, & they very generously extended their fold out couch to me for a few nights while I'm up here :)
