OK…so I think I might definitely be cursed. As I previously noted, shortly after leaving Oslo it was bombed, then right after I left London the riots began. NOW it's been a little over a week since I left NYC & there's a hurricane!!! Are you guys really sure you want me to come home?? I seem to be kinda a danger to any city I pass through at the moment…Heed this warning: Do not go to Vancouver any time in the next month! :P (Seriously, who knows what could happen…a freak pack of rampant bears descending on the city, a freak spring avalanche…).
Anyway! Moving on to more pleasant topics…
Sunday morning I went for a long walk along Cambie Street down to Granville Island, a lovely Fremantle-esque area of Vancouver down on the water with markets & lots of small one-of-a-kind shops. There's even an umbrella shop, selling ONLY umbrellas - only in Vancouver would you find a shop like that! I guess they figure if it's gonna rain ALL the time, you may as well be trendy in the rain ;) I visited Paper-Ya, which is one of my favourite Granville Island stores - a little stationary store that sells all manner of fancy gift wrap, brass stamps for wax seals, cute stamp sets etc. Of course it's all ridiculously expensive so I opted for window shopping, but it's very fun window shopping :)
I went to the Sandbar Restaurant for lunch, which is one of my favourite restaurants in Vancouver & is where I ate lunch with my Mum on the last day she was in Van when she came over here a couple of years ago. It was still as lovely & picturesque as ever, with the same great service & scrumptious food. I followed that up with a wander through the markets, with some freshly made sugar donut holes for desert.
What a lovely way to spent a sunny Sunday in Vancouver :)
