We're in heaven! Paneer in every resteraunt, jewellery shops with earings covering every wall, elephants on every second shelf of every shop, and welcoming 'Hello Madam!' from dawn until dusk. Ok so the last one can get a tad annoying as it is not only a greeting but a "come into my shop, now!", "move-or i'll run you over" or "Hello-yes you do want to buy a huge whip"- but apart from that Delhi's total and utter crazyness has got me hooked.
Considering we weren't even going to come here-its been amazing. A crazy city but still totally India with the cows ruling the streets and the women bringing them to life with their vibrant colours. We've had some totally relaxing few days here after arriving from Dehra Dun (wins the place of best butter chicken even though there was no chicken...it works-trust us) by train- we still have not managed to get the two teer and were lucky enough to get the cosy top of three tier yet again...(fine if you block your nose from the whiffs of latrines and ignore the fact a guy (with a very impressive turban and moustache i might add) strolls the alley with an equally impressive gun!
Shopping/eating/4 months of catch up seems to fill each day pretty fast and we may or may not watch a bit of bollywood music on tv at night (its purely to learn more about Indian culture...honest).
Tomorrow we're off to Udaipur which was decided in our very stategic manner of picking and pointing with our eyes closed on a map- then narrowing all of them down as the trains decided to be full.... all to the amusement of (the first) travel guide. Looking forward to desert, forts, cooking classes and possibly a few less horns from all the vehicles on the street (ok so thats not exactly realistic here).
Am honestly having the time of my life- having the best time travelling with Rach- heaps of fun especially after going solo for the last four months- and definitly makes it easier to laugh off the intense times that we encounter..(but again just make India what it is.) The people are vibrant, the colours are amazing and the whole thing just wonderfully crazy-bring on Udaipur!
