Right, so as i can't lie about when i write in my blog (stupid date thing!) this is a little embarassing, i checked my last entry, which was s***e to say the least, about 2 sentences long, and boring as f***, lets rearange that shall we?
So where to start eh? I'll just tell you all the exciting stuff that's happened since we've arrived.
(FEB) Paragliding i would recomend to anyone, no exeptions, if anyone knows me, they know how s*** scared of hights i am and it was the best thing i have ever experienced so far in my meaningless little life! Cabalgatas (horseriding) was the next big thing on my list, and it lived up to all my expectations, hiking across the Andes on a horse is the best way to go, although you get a sore bum, a RAGING sunburn and achey legs afterwards it's all worth it when you get to sleep under a blanket of stars that look so unreal you're not sure if your dreaming or not. On the other hand, you know it's very real when you wake up with the friend you went with (who's like a brother to you) sleeping...on your boobs... yeah... Rafting and moon party, What.A.Night. All i can say is, the music was good, the people were nice, and the mini van was NOT comfortable to fall asleep in at half 3 in the morning. Me and Suze bought some rollerblades a few days later, for about £30 and they're sexxyyyy, so we decided to try them out right? BAD IDEA! I know how to skate, so it's pretty much tomato potado (american accent on one of em, pick it yourself), but for Suze, whole different story hehe. We practiced a little on our rooftop (which is now the sunbathing rooftop) and she was pretty good at it, but as soon as we were in that park, 10 minutes in she makes the biggest fall of her life and can barely walk for the next week! nice one Suze! ARGENTINE FOOTBALL is one of the most fulfilling things ever, you go there not knowing what to expect, have the best time (even thought i'm really not into football AT ALL), yelling "la concha de tu hermana! La puta que te pario!" at the ref, jumping/singing along with everyone, and you come out feeling energised and ready for more! We went to the Venidimia electric tango show and seriously you were mesmerised by the music this band was playing, they're called Bajo Fondo, and the sound they made from those instruments is b-e-a-utiful!
(MARCH) So we skip the whole of this month to St Patrick's day, one of the best nights ever! Basically it's some kind of excuse for any foreigners in this country (or and foreign country) to run down the street, pissed out of their brains, yelling football songs, and basically half naked without being judged by others as they are equally as pissed! What a NIGHT. Started off nice and chilled, got the Irish flag painted on my face, and had some winey wine with Suzanita until the rain came, then it really did feel like home. Everyone got into the pub, trying to shelter themselves from this storm that seemed to never end, and one guy just sitting outside yelling at us English folk "It's just rain! You should be used to this!" So by the time we got out, all the sewers were flooded and you can imagine what our feet looked like when we got home, pretty much the same colour as my hair (which is brown now by the way ;)). We've been chilling a lot at this hostel called Mendoza Inn as our new favourite person right now is GABRIEL who works there night shifts, enjoys our company, and gives us free booze (sometimes ;)). He's seriously like my new best friend, he's awesome, invites us to all the footy games, and lets us stay in the hostel till about 8 in the morning when he has to leave to go to bed hehe. The thing that has suprised me the most and yet i have got accostumed to pretty sharpish is the amount of ice cream shops there are ! You go around any corner and there'll be about 3 in a row, open from 8 am to about 4 am, so anyone hungry for ice cream when back from a club? You'll find some.
We started work yesterday! FINALLY! after weeks of interviews and searching for something to do, we've settled down with our local government school Eva Peron, about 45 mins walk from the house (oh yes, we walk EVERYWHERE!) we started yesterday, helping out with the kids, giving lesson plans to the teacher and then playing with them during their break. They're all really lovely kids, and i don't understand why a lot of people say they're dirty and horrible, they're children, they don't know any better than how they've been raised! So don't judge 10 year olds for where they come from before you get to know them, because all they want is a bit of your attention and to be in school to learn! We also went to this introduction day at AVOME which is a school that helps children from poor or troubled backgrounds because they know they have rights to their own opinion about the way they live, and also have the right to be loved by anyone who is willing to give them a bit of theirs. There were about 35 volunteers ranging from 18 to 50+ all just wanting to help these children, give up a bit of their spare time to show some love and affection :) So hopfully we'll be able to start that up as soon as possible and fit it in with Eva Peron so we can be giving all our available time to them, cuz that's what we came here for isn't it?
Hope you're all well, gimmi some news when you can :)
Love LT.
