Hi...
Firstly we ventured out of the amazing and relaxing Krabi in which we spent 3 days. This was the relaxing part of the trip in which we could let our hair down eat amazing thai food (which i now love) sun bath and swim. Which i did a lot of. So it was out of Thailand and into Malaysia, the journey was not too bad but it involved a border crasing. So what was suppose to take 8 hrs took 12 hrs which is becoming a trend now. We get told it will take a certain amount of time but always takes an extra 2 hrs. Any way we all got through safely and no one got stopped it just took time. We arrived in penange which is a small island off the coast of malaysia in which a bridge connects it. My first impression of the place was that it was a little dirty looking but most asian towns do. The place is a complete mix of cultures, it was full of Indain influence and Chinese . We did a city tour the day after and he took us round the temples and rich peoples houses, which you could see how the rich live. I was shocked to see off every block a hindu temple or a christian church , or buddist temple. This place is apparently where all the rich go to retire due to how beautiful itis. We were possible not in the nice area as we did not get to see this beauty but i am sure it is in some places. The food here was a little dissapointing as we had been used to the tasty thai food and as we tried to eat malaysian food it was hard to see what was traditionally malaysian. We ate out at food courts which had very little resembelence to any english food courts. I think i just stook with rice.. to be safe :) . Plus now we were in malaysia all the girls out of respect have to be covered uo, covering the knees and covering the shoulders . So in the heat we were stuggling a little with what we had to wear. But all Malaysia is majority Islam so we needed to respect it. We had a little dink in the evening but soon realised that they do not drink out here... The price of a pint was the same as in england, and this is a lot compared to what we have been paying so we decided to head back to our hotel and get some take outs and hit the roof terrace. a good night was had by all.. :) so penange was a strange but enlightening experience as to see how the rich in malaysia live. And how excepting everyone seems to be with all religions. Which we are in england and how it should be as we are all very differnt people and deserve our different views and ways to God. War is not something that religion should cause but sadly it is.. :)
