Our overnight bus journey down south was a bit horrendous. Even though we supposedly paid extra for a better bus it was still so uncomfortable, especially for poor Liss who's chair was totally broken. It proved very difficult to translate this and the Thai seem very strict on sitting in your allocated seats! We also had issues with a cockroach, a never-ending Thai soap opera, a kid that insisted on keeping her light on, a vile halfway stop and someone's phone alarm that went off every 5 minutes. Suffice to say, we didn't exactly sleep. On the plus side, the journey was only 11 hours instead of 15 in the end.
The seaside is sooo different to Bangkok. It feels really jungle-y! And we saw a cheeky monkey creeping around earlier! Our hostel is amazing and we just had literally the best shower of our lives! We're about a 15mins walk from the beach and have already begun the tanning process but unfortunately the beach isn't too amazing here. The view is nice but the sand isn't very soft and it turns out that this place is more for fat Americans to holiday at rather than backpackers so it's super busy. Hence why after our 5 island boat tour tomorrow and a spot of sorkelling we're going to head straight for phi-phi island and stay there for a while 'cause it's meant to be lushhh and a backpackers absolute haven!! So excited!! We're gonna try and get a beach bungalow booked up asap today which are basically huts right on the beach :) :) :) Living the dreammmm!
All our love :) Cathy xxxxxxx
