Friday. The 6:40am alarm wasn't what I wanted to hear but we had to be up to catch a flight. We flew from Bangkok airport to Chiang Mai which only took 55 minutes, and cost £57. We then had to get a mini bus for three hours, up in to the mountains to get to Pai. It wasn't the most comfortable journey, we were squashed like sardines and I was so glad I took a travel sick tablet because it was literally one bend after another. We are staying at the Pai Circus Hostel, and had some hassle sorting our room out so they upgraded the room Lauren and I were in for free. Although the bathroom was still sending my OCD crazy because it was far from clean, the beds were comfy though and seemed quite new. There are 12 of us in the room, and everyone is really nice. Two Swedish girls, Emma and Jo, who we speak to a lot, there's also an American girl, a English couple and their friends who have just arrived, and a few others. True to its name, they have people teaching circus tricks on the grass area most of the day and anyone can join in. There's a really relaxed vibe here and the views are amazing. The weather wasn't the best by the time we arrived in the afternoon, so we got changed and went out to explore and find somewhere to eat. We found a place that did homemade food then headed back to the hostel. It's like one big party at night, everyone is really friendly and everyone just talks to anyone. We bought twenty beers for 2000 THB (it's about 50 TBH to a £) and took our playing cards to join the group. We quickly had people coming over to sit with us because naturally we were quite loud (and fun of course!) and before we knew it we had a group drinking card games on the go. Sean from Australia, Adrian from Canada, James and Talia from Essex, who are brother and sister, two French and one American guy whose names I can't remember. (Blame the beers). After a rowdy game of cards and James and Sean showing us magic tricks we all went over the road to get some food together, and more beers. The bar area closed so we carried on the party outside Sean's bungalow, drunk people trying to get in and out the hammock was entertaining. I don't know what time I finally rolled in to my bottom bunk bed, but I slept like a baby.
