Thursday 14th January.
By the time I was up, Lauren and Sarah had gone to work. Me and Kirsty sorted our washing and packed our bags and headed to the shop to get some breakfast and lunch. We picked up a sandwich from Subway for the drive and then ate our coco pops in the van. Traveller life! We drove to Port Macquarie which is a couple of hours away. We were staying with Jess, who is friends with Sarah, that Lauren and Kirsty met when travelling before. We arrived just before 4 and Jess was at work so her parents, Debbie and David, let us in and showed us around. They have a really lovely home and took us out to the pool area, where we ended up spending some time whilst we waited for Jess to get home. Jess and her friend Matt took us to the lighthouse to see the views as there was supposed to be a storm coming. It didn't rain but we could see the lightening in the distance. We sat and ate some cheese and drank wine and all just talked about what we had been getting up to. We dropped Matt home then went to Jess's other friends house. There are a group of them (mostly couples) which all take it in turns to cook dinner every other Thursday at each other's houses. It was great to do less of the 'touristy' things and spend some time with people who live here and be invited to have dinner with them. We spent the night eating and drinking with them and getting to know them, then went back to Jess's house. Me and Kirsty had our own double rooms so it was good to have our own space for a change, and I couldn't wait to get in to bed.
