Lisa n Charlie Europe 2006
Hey, Although Romania was not our favourite stop off we did enjoy the Draculas Vampire Castle. It wasnt quite what we expected as it was niether gothic or vampire like at all, no coffins or blood in sight. As the main focus of the castle was on oud Queen Maria from back in the day. There are hundreds of pictures of her with the same smile in various parts of the castle.
However we were pleasantly suprised on the way out when we found the real tourist attraction. A haunted house like trail through dark bug covered wall being scared to death by people chasing us and coming out of the walls. We got so scared that a man dressed as vampire who was supposed to scare us had to come and hold our hands to guide us out. It was really fun and made up for the let down of the castle before, lots of vampires, blood and coffins.
We stayed at the Vampire Campsite which wasnt very scary either but was very pleasant, clean and friendly.
We are in two minds about Romania, you can see the poor side of the counry very clearly and you may find that off putting, although the Romanian people are extremely kind and very helpful and although we did not explore Romania fully what we did see would make us want to return and explore more of the country.
Budapest is our next stop we will up date you there.x
