Lisa's travels
Once i left Hervey BAy i headed up the coast to 1770 a small town which was the year captain cook first arrived in Queensland 24 May 1770. A very peaceful town which is not built up like the rest of the coastal towns and has only had a road running through it for 3 1/2 years. The backpackers i stayed at was cool Bananas and definately the best hostel i have stayed in so relaxing and modern with a really friendly atmosphere. This is the last surf place on the east coast due to the barrier reef starting. So i made full advantage and took a surf lesson which was fab but hard work!!! I think i wiped out more than i rode the waves. But Paul our instructor was great. It was definately harder than it looked but will definately do it again. THis is also the cheapest place on the east coast to learn to surf.
