We are staying in the old part of Udaipur which is thankfully a lot quieter than Jodphur. It is very picturesque with mountain scenery surrounding a lake which is full due to the monsoons. There are lovely palaces, we have visited the City Palace so far and hope to visit the Monsoon Palace before we leave.  Today we got up at 7am and after breakfast walked up to the Mehrangarh Fort.  We did an audio tour of the fort and took lots of photos of the lovely views and the intricate designs on the red sandstone.  We then walked to Jaswant Thada - a white marble memorial to Maharaja (King) Jaswant Singh II.  Then got an autorickshaw back to the clocktower and market area.  Stopped for a lassi (local yoghurt drink) then picked up some samosas from ...

After a five hour bus journey we arrived in Jodphur.  We nearly lost Ed as he had to make a quick exit from the bus for an emergency toilet stop - he was contemplating using a bottle it was so bad!  Apparently the buses rarely stop so we are both pleased that we have avoided delhi belly so far.Jodphur is a typical bustling busy indian city overlooked by a huge fort.  We checked into our room at Haveli Guest House, showered the camel smell and ...

Ok, a bit more of an update about what we got up to in Jaisalmer.  After our last internet visit we bumped into a few people from the group and went for some food at a Tibetan rooftop restaurant.  Then headed back to the hotel to get ready for a night out on the town!  Being us we were not that thrilled at the fact that we were taken to a local shop to hire traditional 'local costume' for the night out.  Yes, picture this (sorry no pho...
