Lisa and Vicki Go Round the World
Ok, the coach overnight could have been worse. For all the warnings of thieves in the night - as if we were to encounter a highway robber - and the reclining chairs which shouldn't exist on public transport, we arrive at Chumphorn pier at 5 am. Lots of bleary eyed travellers, with various coloured stickers adorning their bags and clothing (each island destination has a particular colour) kill time by sleeping, making coffee, checking email, smoking too much and general chit-chatting.
As dawn emerges, distant islands appear along with our boat at the end of the pier, waiting for us to embark. We queue up, hoisting our far-too-heavy bags onto our very sore shoulders, knowing that in a few hours we'll be back on our beloved Koh Phangan.
