Never had a problem getting to Thailand. Flights are always on time and long may it continue.
So, having met Liz from Melbourne on our flight to Dubai - we've arranged to meet whilst we're there - the three of us plus a random traveller race through this horrid airport for ... the smoking lounge. I know, bad bad bad. But after a few bevies one needs the beautiful leaf. After a couple of smokes they go their way and we go ours.
Before we know it we've landed in Bangkok, got through immigration, collected our bags and, having broken the golden rule, find ourselves in a taxi having been accosted by a taxi tout No more than 5 minutes later, we're asked to leave the taxi as the driver apparently wants to go home to bed. And why not. Our tout gets us another taxi, which is handily a few metres away and we head for downtown Bangkok.
It's good to back, so we undertake to find somewhere to rest our weary head for a few hours. The Star Dome Inn will do nicely, located on Rambuttri Road, it's a few metres from where we collect our coach. Aside from the booming music coming from downstairs, it's quite peaceful. Somewhat rested and showered we haul our bags' onto our rapidly ruined shoulders and head to the meeting place. We check in - so to speak - and are now the proud owners of green badges that say we're off to Phangan. A mere 14 hours to go and we should be there.
