This morning we left Atherton (interesting morning in the amenities block with some grey nomad ladies having a debate about caravan park amenity blocks and what their ideal clean is, I added some input which wasn't well received so I left them to it. Our last day at Atherton was spent visiting Herbeton - an old tin ore mining town with four museums. We did a mine walk and saw some of the old mining sheds and shafts, we also visited the camera museum - there were cameras over 100 years old that were still producing pictures - things were definately made to last in those days. If yesterday was waterfall day today was lake day. We saw two crater lakes: Lake Eacham and Lake Barrine. We did the Lake Eacham circuit walk before heading to Lake Barrine where we did the hour lake cruise - very informative! Plus we got to see turtles and a water dragon. We also went to see the cathedral fig tree. We then headed to Lake Tinaroo - lots of water skiing and boats! Lovely area - amazes me how you can go from rainforest to farmland within 100 metres...

We left Cairns yesterday and travelled to Atherton via Kuranda. Stopped at Kuranda and had a look around the village - lots of unique arts/crafts. We also had a look at Barron Falls before heading into Atherton (stopped at Jaques Coffee for a pit stop along the way). Today was waterfall day. Our second day in Cairns where we did some sight-seeing, did some shopping and had a dip in the pool (was 28 degrees and not raining!) we then went to the c*** and bull for dinner. Value for money.
