So apparently my last blog entry was a little lacking (someone rated it 1, Curse you) so I will do my best to redeem myself. If not, atleast I have a handful of new photos. Once i arrived in Buenos Aires, I made my way to the Milhouse Hostal which I had reserved from El Salvador. Discovered I had the wrong Milhouse and made my way to the next one, only to discover I had stumbled across the local Party hostal, after going to bed jet lagged I was awoken at 11, told to check out or get another night. I got out, and found the greatest hostal in my books in BA, Limehouse Hostal. From there Tina and I did all sorts of random adventures, from a day at the mall, to visting the local suburb of Lujan.
A few days later my parents arrived. and what a relief it was to learn that they had a place for me in their posh Hotel. Leaving the gringo trail, I left for much greener pastures. Once My parents arrived we decided to do all the touristy things BA had to offer. we took a wonderful City Tour, discovered La Boca, Palermo, Plaza de Mayo, it was a wonderful tour that showed us the heart of BA. Next on the agenda, the famous Cementario de la Recoleta. After my fathers reservations about visiting a cemetary. we discovered a lavish resting place for the rich and elite of Buenos Aires. We strolled the "streets" for hours and even stumbled upon the famous familia Duarte, where the famous Eva "Evita" peron is buried. The next day, we made our way to San Antonio, for gaucho festivities, a tour of the old ways of the cowboy, we were fed all you can eat steak, and to my delightful surprise all you can drink. A few days later we jet setted to Santiago Chile. After the airport shock (the 132 US$ entry fee) we made our way to out hotel and discovered a great little eatery a few blocks away. Another city tour later, we made our way to Vina del Mar, where a renowned music festival was held. unfortunately for us the weather didn´t seem to agree. but we made the best of our time visting the beach and the local festivities. we returned to BA and once again visited the gringo hot spots. The musuem of Bellas Artes house some impressive pieces that span 500 years. Rembrandt to Picasso, the two storey building which is free of charge is definetly worth a vist. the 100 year old Zoo is another favorite of ours, birds and strange animals strolls the paths as we gaze upon the 100s of species in the beautifully maintained downtown zoo. and sadly my parents 16 day visit had ended, so they packed up while I had packed on the pounds, hey when you ain´t paying.
A few days later I made my way to Uruguay, please check out the album and I´ll be sure to follow up about my date with Wonder at a later time.
