Helloooo!
Coromandel to Rotorua
We went to see a Kauri tree, it's just a big tree. Then we drve through Waikatoto the town of Matamata which was the filming location for Hobbiton in Lord of the Rings, so we stopped for the obligatory cheesy photo in front of Golam.
Then we went to the Karangahake Scenic Reserve which is described as a bush-clad gorge, it was a pretty nice 45 minute walk, lots of greenary, bridges and an old miners railway tunnel. In the afternoon we went Luging which is a kind of go-karting but you just have a break and thats it, it goes down steep hills, that was so much fun! In the evening we went to a Tamaki Maori Village for traditional dance and meal. They make the food in an earth oven under the ground on hot rocks for 3-4 hours, pretty cool to see it. I haven't had chance to put my pics up yet. The food was amazing, tasted like it had been BBQ'ed. It was proper sunday dinner stylee with chicken, potatoes, veg and gravy. To be honest the evening had been hyped up so much that loads of people went, but for the amount it cost I wouldn't say it was worth it, even if I did eat my body weight in food!
Then we drove to Rotorua where steam comes up from under the streets and through storm drains, pretty crazy. It's known as Sulphur City because it stinks like ass...
