Hey guys,
Just thought I'd let you know that I've arrived in Bangkok safely. I have to say it's an experience and totally different from anywhere else I've been before. On the descent into the city, I've never seen such long roads, they stretched for miles. Other than that it didn't look much different at first sight, although now I'm here, it is! I'm looking forward to Pui Yan coming out tomorrow to spend some time with her sightseeing. I've booked a day trip tomorrow which involves going to visit the Bridge on the River Kwai, war memorials and then going elephant trekking so that should be fun! Then I'll meet up with her in the evening for a couple of drinks hopefully, I have yet to taste a drop of alcohol since I left, I know it's not all that long, but still!!
Leaving home was emotional and I did start to wonder what I was actually doing but I'm feeling better now I'm here, although my 'stroll' out to see the local area ended after about 5 mins of not knowing where I was but I'm sure that'll get easier the more I'm here and then I have my group trip starting on the 1st Feb.
The flight actually 'flew' by. I managed to sleep for most of it and it was all pretty easy going, apart from when I nearly bashed one of the air stewardesses opening the loo door and she seemed to blame me. Not sure how. Luckily I was too tired to bother. That's a rubbish story anyway, it seemed funny/annoying at the time. We're 7 hours ahead here so it's almost my bed time, given that I had an 11 hour flight and then lost 7 hours, and I have to be up at 6am for my trip tomorrow.
Oh and I don't like to gloat and of course I won't throughout this trip ;o) but it is absolutely baking here, I was sweating the minute I stepped outside, nice!
Will keep you posted along the way and hopefully hear from you to find out how you're getting on too!
