Lin & Phil - Out and About in the Big World...
Hi there,
The flight from Krabi to Bangkok went smooth. Managed to locate the right bus pretty quickly at the airport to Bangkok's eastern bus terminal. My parents were quite amazed by Bangkok's hustle and bustle (I'm glad they didn't see Patpong though!). Got on another bus to Mae Pim, a small town of the east coast (for 136 Bath each!!!). Mae Pim is yet to face the tourism (only thai people go there) so it was quite a challenge to find a hotel, a restaurant with a waiter who spoke english etc. The restaurants all (all 15 of them) served seafood ONLY. Here's the problem, I don't particularly like seafood. The chef kindly managed to make another dish for me. I should have known it would be spicy. I had one mouthful of it and I was on fire. Decided my steamed rice was the way forward.
The next day we went to look at a few houses my parents had been interested in buying. After that we took a ferry across to the island of Ko Samet. We arrived here last night and it is absolutely beautiful. The whole island is a national park so it's so clean compared to many other places. The water is crystal clear and the sand is soft as a baby butt. Can't complain at all.
We'll be staying here another two night before we're heading back up to Bangkok. Then I'll meet up with the boys, say goodbye to my parents and Tom, and then fly down to Malaysia with Phil.
