Lin & Phil - Out and About in the Big World...
Tom and I are now near Burma. After meeting Thailands angriest man we left Krabi and said by to Lin, who after waking Tom and I up at 6.00am found herself to be as popular as an Englishman in Kabul! About the time Lin was getting drenched in her Kayak our bus arrived in Khao Sok Park and we had to search for a hotel, the only benefit of walking round in a torrential downpoar in a rain forest was that you got a free shower. Once the rain stopped the hotel owners took us to a monastery where we fed some wild monkeys, usually the monks do this but theyve all gone into the jungle for a few months! So once the banannas were on show the monkeys swung down the vines from the cliffs above. They took the banannas right from our hands - awesome. I took as many photographs as a japanese photographer on speed.
The next day we went Kayaking, saw a few snakes in the trees above us, some wild birds and a giant Lizard. We also took an early morning dip by a tarzan style rope swing. Once the aussie we were kayaking with went in first and came out alive, Tom and I got involved.
In the afternoon Tom went for a trek in the jungle with James. They almost got eaten alive by hoardes of leeches which came to life after a downpour. James managed to get one on his upper groin - a close call. I went off on an elephant ridee and jumped into a plunge pool by a waterfall - fed my elephant and got a huge hand full of saliver in the process!
Stayedd the night in Surathani. After passing a good looking hotel Tom mentioned that he wished our budget stretched that far - after a little research we discovered it did at 12 quid a night - this was the first hotel ive stayed in that has remote control lighting!
Today went on the death railway, saw Hell fire pass which was a cutting on the death railway where 770 people died during its construction. wondered when on earth Tom would get bored of the museum there.
Phil.
