So I am back home and by back home I mean Surfer's Paradise on the Gold Coast. It was where my original adventure started from and its feels almost too good to be back....
Its been at least a week since I lasted blogged to you all and as I didnt get the chance while I was in Sydney I have labelled this blog as being posted in Sydney...Well seeing as my last weeks adventures happened there,?lets all pretend thats where I am for now!
Again I am not entirely sure where I left off last time but I know I was still in Melbourne and the last few days there were good fun. As some of you may have already seen I indeed the ultimate tourist adventure and went on the Neighbours tour...my god it was much fun!! I hadn't actually watched the show in a while but we all grew up with it so it had to be done. The excitement started as soon as the Neighbours bus picked me up...we watched old episodes (aww poor Helen dying was so sad to see again) and gossiped about old plots and favourite characters. First stop was Erinsburgh High - its a real school and half the parents there dont even realise its used in the show. I think they get really confused when a bunch of english backpackers turn up and have photos outside the gates!! Then it was on the Grease Monkeys and the Mechanics Garage. After this came the ultimate moment, the highlight, yes it was Ramsey Street!! And added to this they were actually filming so I got to see a few characters including Susan Kennedy firing off there lines to the camera. It was so surreal standing on the edge of Ramsey Street watching every young persons favourite soap being filmed. Thinking back to when I used to sit there at 5.35 every week night waiting for the titles to roll I would never have dreamt of being stood there, in the heart of all that TV action we all love!
Ok so the following day was our last day in Melbourne and myself and Charli took about a 5 mile walk (I think!) upto the Botanical Gardens and all the way through them. The sun was shining brightly and it was soo peaceful...I hear you laugh at the word peaceful - yes it was true, the amount of walking we were doing we didnt have the energy to talk!! We had been very lucky with the weather in Melbourne as its supposed to be slightly colder there now and a bit wetter but for us - pure sunshine and maybe the odd cloud. On the way back we passed by Federation Square where the Melbourne Comedy Festival was coming to a close. We took our seats in the square and enjoyed some light humour and lots of funny jokes....it was a lovely, relaxing day and probably was needed just before what was to be a hell of a crazy week in Sydney. That evening I met up with my friend Kate. I briefly worked with Kate in my last job and she is originally from Melbourne - cant beat going out with a local! She picked me up and took me to Lygon Street which is in the Italian area of the city...and WOW, every restaurant was Italian, and being my favourite food I was in heaven!! The meal and company were exceptional...It was a lovely end to my time in Melbourne. Again I will 100% be going back there one day....
Right this is where the mad crazyness starts and I get the feeling that this blog could go on for a while...hahahaha!! Our flight left midday from Melbourne and after a few airport dramas we landed safely in Sydney. Our shuttle driver was hilarious and kept as entertained until we arrived at our hostel. Check in was fine until.......oh my god Gabi jumped me and wouldnt let go, I love you girl!! For all of those that don't know, Gabi is a crazy girl from Poland that I know from a few pink gigs. She was there with Lotta too - another crazy girl...these girls love Vodka and they sure as hell had been drinking it before we arrived. Lets just say our party started at about 5pm that night!!! The trip to the MTV awards was mad...Gabi in the most outrageous outfit - short skirt, corset, whip, collar, leash - so funny!! Her favourite line being - 'Where the F&*K is Tanaka' I didnt stop laughing from 5pm until 4am!! Once in to the awards it was straight to the bar for a few more vodkas, then downstairs to meet Bex and Tina..the gang were ready and off it was to our seats. We all booked separately so we said our goodbyes and made our way to our seats. So by seats I mean in the clouds - we were so high up that the people on the stage looked like pin heads. To be honest with you I was fine about this, after all its not everyday your at the MTV Music Awards is it?! P!nk opened the show in true P!nk style and then after about 10 minutes of the show a steward came up and starting grabbing everyone from the back rows - yes, they needed us to fill the mosh pit. We went from the clouds to being about 1 row from the front of stage - I didnt think anything could get much better but as the night grew later it got better for some of us.Here's how the night unfolded....Charli's toe had been hurting so we decided we should take her to hospital. We had partied lots in the mosh pit and left just before the awards had finished...Myself and Tina left Bex and Charli at the front of the arena to go get some free Tshirts and lollipops. Having returned to the spot where we had left the girls they were nowhere to be seen..a slight problem when we realised that Charli infact had my coat on with my passport, phone and money in it!! Tina came out with no phone too and had no money either. So we sat and waited for just under 2 hours to see if anyone came back for us - they didnt!! However we came across a very drunken and distraught Gabi - yes she had tried to blag it backstage with her whip trying to find Tanaka (P!nks bass player) Obviously they didnt believe her so they took away her whip and chucked her out - classic!!! We couldnt stop laughing! Anyway Gabi then decided she had lost her phone and passport BUT she did have money - we were saved!!! Its hard to explain what Gabi is like but shes unique, unique in a great way. We sat there for another 30minutes hoping the others would find us but instead some guy asked me for a smoke - I of course said sorry I dont have any smokes. He was a nice guy and we got chatting. Turned out he was actually quite high up in something to do with the MTV awards and handed me his after show party ticket - oh yeh baby!!!! It only got one of us in but theres no harm in trying to blag everyone else in. I had promised to find Tanaka for Gabi - it was the only way to shut her up! Taxi's were charging silly amounts of money to take us back to Sydney central until I came across someone that was working for MTV who desperatley needed to get to the party..nice one Tasha, everyone in.......
.....so we now arrive at the party venue with extremley tight security..within minutes we had lost Gabi - not good! She was there, then she was gone!! I was clever enough to get the MTV girls name from the cab incase I could blag it that way...Moments before trying to blag it, guess who turned up!!? Yes Tanaka!!!!! It was so funny and even funnier that we couldnt even find Gabi to tell her....I had a little chat to all the band and crew that showed up but still we needed one more ticket to get both of us in. After a quite chat with some of the stuff and confirmation from the guy that was ushering cars we were let straight into the party...it was unbelievable! MTV certainly know how to throw a party and there were free drinks and posh food floating around all night until 4am....I could go on forever telling you all the stories but I shall save them for when I see you...and incase your wondering what happened to Gabi - she had run straight in after we had got out the cab shouting im with Fergie, yes Im with Fergie - priceless...Gabi rocks!! We strolled in about 4/5am after a few more random moments including havin to knock the door down to our room...Charli and Bex - still nowhere to be seen.....An amazingly awesome night, one of the best in a long time!!!
Right so one crazy night over and onto another....it was Meet and Greet with P!nk time. I woke up with a devil of a hangover but went for an early morning coffee with Tina while we let Charli sleep. In fact early morning meant 8am, and I had only been in bed since about 6am - I was not feeling all that good, let alone looking all that good. Change of dorm room then it was off to meet a couple of old friends in Newtown. There was enough time for a catch up and some lunch until we had to head back to get ready for our meeting and some rocking out with P!nk. Everything was running late but at 8.15pm we were taken to meet the last herself - it was a good moment and something that I will keep very close to me. My happiness shows in the photos..go check them!!! The show was extra special that night too as even though we were standing at the back, she spotted us and told everyone in the arena about us...our very own shout out infront of thousands of people - again priceless! That night I went to bed fairly early, it had been an exhausting but unforgetable few days. I will never forget them.
A mid morning breakfast followed the next day in Newtown with Tina then it was off to walk the streets of Sydney and discover the place. I swear it was another day where I walked about 5miles but every moment worth it. We went jet Boating under the Sydney Harbour Bridge and around the Opera House. It was so much fun. The boat goes pretty fast and does 360 turns and you get completely soaked on it. I had to wear this rather attractive red jacket to keep me dry - I will add some photos soon if I can get them to work...What makes the jet boating even more exciting was the fact that I didnt have to pay a penny to do it - its not what you know, its who you know!! Anyone for jet boating with me?! Next stop was passing by Sydney Fashion Week tents - ok so we totally didnt stick around there for long. Too many tall skinny people, wearing crazy outfits. The 2 shortest girls in Sydney wearing jeans and flip flops?certainly didnt fit in! After this it was off to meet Shel, she rescued me from a fountain and we watched Rugrats (well not quite but we thought it would be more interesting than just saying I was introduced to her by a friend!!!!) That evening it was out partying and dancing....ooh and by this point it was realised that Gabi hadnt lost her passport but Bex had it..we still cant quite work out how she ended up with it but it meant no trip to the Polish embassy. All was good!
Well we are almost at the end of my few days in Sydney but not quite. However its taken me ages to write this and I have places to go and people to see so I shall update you on the last few days next time I blog...I hope you all enjoyed reading this and I promise there is lots more to come...Being back in Surfers is great and the weather here is as?amazing as ever just to make you all jealous! Hope your all well and Im sending lots of love through this to you all.....Mwah xxxxxxxx
