When we were getting on the bus from Noosa to Brisbane the driver asked us for ID and I realised I left our passports hidden under the mattress in our room. We had to get the next bus which was in 2 hours.
Brisbane is quite a big city, it's like Glasgow but slightly warmer.
Our room had no Air Conditioning, only a fan, so the first 2 nights were really hot because the daytime temperature was 32 degrees. On the 3rd day the winds changed direction and it was only 26 degrees which felt really cold to us and we were shivering in the night.
Like I said, the first night in Brisbane was really humid and there was a massive thunderstorm. I spent ages trying to take photos of the lightning with the camera but I was unlucky.
We found 2 cheap curry restaurants where we got 2 curries and rice for 5 dollars on the first 2 nights.
We found out that Brisbane has a food court. Food Courts are best ever, they should have them at home. There is loads of choice of restaurants all about 5 dollars for lunch and if we disagree we don't even have to eat in the same place. The only problem is I have enough trouble trying to decide what to eat when I am in one restaurant but when we have to look at all the menus in all the restaurants it takes ages. And then you get regrets because you start thinking you should have had the Mexican instead of Italian and you get jealous because Katie's looks better or even the lady next to you looks like she made a better choice (and she usually doesn't even eat it all).
Katie spent one morning shopping and because I hate shopping and Katie hates shopping with me because she knows how bored I am, she left me in a bookshop where I spent an hour reading a travel book about Chile. It made me pretty happy because it sounds like there is loads of cool stuff do to and it appears to be as cheap as Thailand was which is what we need because our money is running out quickly.
I got more good news later on when I found out that we can now get 2.4 Australia dollars for the pound instead of 2.3 which is what it was 2 weeks ago. I also found out that we can get 2.85 NZ dollars instead of 2.7 which is what it was only 2 weeks ago. Katie suggested the pound was strong; I don't care what the reason is I hope it doesn't go back down because it makes a big difference on what we can and can't do in New Zealand. I've never been so interested in global economics.
We went to an art gallery in Brisbane and spent an hour building a city out of lego for some art exhibition. The city was just like all other Australian cities - it didn't have any castles, and because I come from the country with the highest density of Castles in the world I decided to build one out of lego. It looked rubbish though because I couldn't really remember what castles usually look like and I tried to add 4 spiral staircases on the outside but it ended up looking like a spaceship.
We went to Brisbane's famous South Bank Lagoon on the final day but it was too cold to go for a swim and there was just one person in there.
Katie wanted to go to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary where you could get a photo of you hugging a koala bear. It's not as cuddly as it looks: they smell bad, they weigh a ton, you have to hold their butt and sometimes they crap on you, and their claws dig in to your naked shoulders when you are only wearing a vest.
Katie was unhappy with her photo of herself hugging a koala because she had red eye. I was unhappy with the photo of me hugging the koala because he looked like he wasn't enjoying himself.
At the photo shop they had loads of photos of celebrities hugging Koalas. I couldn't believe how many famous people have hugged the Koala bears, even the Pope!!
