Have you ever walked so much you thought your feet would fall off? In the last two days I've walked all over what feels like Hell's Half Acre.
Yesterday a bunch of the group decided to take an adventure to Camden Markets. If you don't know what that is, it's an open air market that sells everything from Indian food to Doc Martin's. We left around noon and didn't get back until after five! There were so many interesting little booths and stores to go in. I bought an Indian scarf and two bracelets for about $7 in a cute little Indian shop. My favorite store, though, was a record store that had all kinds of rare presses of vinyls and CDs. I'm going back there next weekend!
After we finally got back from shopping all day, I took a little rest and then my friend Katie and I decided to head over to Hyde Park to listen to The Police play a concert. It was so incredible. I knew almost every song they played and had a blast. The band was really on too. Even their new and odd renditions of old favorites sounded spectacular. Unfortunately, it was ridiculously cold so we left right before the encore. Thankfully I heard almost every song I was hoping to hear and I wasn't too disappointed. Besides that, it was free! You can't beat that with a stick.
This morning I got up really early to shower and eat breakfast. I accidentally skipped it two days in a row previously and really missed it for some reason. It wasn't bad! Their breakfast food usually isn't though. (But don't get me started on dinner! I'll save that for a later entry.)
After eating and relaxing a bit, my Art of the 19th Century class took the tube to Tate Britain. Our last class was at the National Gallery, which was amazing, but so frustrating. Almost everything I wanted to see we had to skip over due to time constraints. The Tate, however, was fantastic. I got to see some really amazing works of art and even discovered a new British painter whose work I'm in LOVE with. (James Tissot if you're wondering.)
The not-so-bad thing about rushing through the art museums while I'm in class is that I'm able to go back later on my days off since I'll be here another three weeks. I can't believe that, by the way. A month in London seems like a long time, but I still have a huge list of things to see and do! I hope I can see as much of it as possible
Tonight I can check at least one more thing off my To Do list: The London Eye! Our group is going at 7 p.m. and I'm so excited! I'll definitely be posting pictures of that a.s.a.p.
