In Singapore Airport now, making the most of the free intenret (especially as its another 6 and half hours til the flight.....joys!!).
So....the hassle from KL to here was not fun! Had a good day in KL, we wandered around the city, went up the KL Tower which was good to see the whole city from 276m high...could even see our little dive of a hotel! Lookign back though, even if it did blow in cigarette smoke through the aircon it was still luxury to our Singapore hotel....
But in KL after the tower we walked to the Petronas towers...big....then went to get some lunch and then hopped on the monorail to the station closest to our hotel. I don't understand why all other countries seem to have a much better public transport system and its soooooo much cheaper than ours too! So when we got off we walked out of the station....into the BIGGEST shopping mall ever. It wasn't as long as the trafford centre, but it was about 10 stories high and huge...and it meant we found Cosmo World! Heehee, it was a little indoor theme park, only cost a fiver to get in, but the roller coaster was good and some of the other rides were pretty scary, so that took up the evening!
Next day we were going to get the bus down to Singapore, but due to this big festival that meant it was really busy and there were no trains or buses down to Singapore for at leats the next two days...and we had a flight to catch in three days....and we'd paid for a hotel room. Great.
So we had to book a flight down to Singapore which blew the budget....that all went smoothly, got to the airport early so got moved onto and earlier flight, got to Singapore and caught the train to the end the road where our hotel was meant to be. Now we'd read on the site we booked our hotel that the Geylang road had the red light district and we thought ok, a few dodgy houses with red lights.....how wrong we were. The Geylang road was huge, and just our luck we'd got off at the wrong end of it furthest away from our hotel..and it was raining. A lot. So we're plodding through the rain, absolutely soaked, I'm slipping everywhere because my Paul Frank flip flops are no good in the wet....so then I fall over on the tiles undercover (oh the embarassment and shame) and have to walk out of the cover on the side of the road getting soaked. And the red light district isn't small. Its so so long, endless young girls and women standing at the side of the road. Finally get to our hotel, which is ok, room is small and air con is so loud...look out of the window and ours must have been one of the dodgiest hotels and opposite it were about 15 women standing in a row under their umbrellas. It was really really sad and depressing....
And there was a cockroach in the bathroom *whimper*
Realised now that we weren't gonna have a great time, so spent our day there in town and then locked in the hotel at night. Joys...
