Today Jamie and Jenny took us out to see their first house in Sydney and to see the trendy Surry Hills. We then went to the fish market for some lunch. We imagined freshly cooked fish taken leisurely with a glass of cold wine on the side. The reality was somewhat different. It was packed! Only space was on the grass and the fish wasn't that good. These are the famous Harry's Cafe de Wheels pies. They have been sold to the ordinary and stars since 1938. These were tigers, with beef pie, mushy peas, mash and gravy. Yummy!
Jamie was out late last night but,he managed to come to meet us. We then decided to go into town to visit Potts point and Woolloomoloo.
We took a slow walk over to Jamie's place at Balls Head, which is in the next bay. It was beautiful as we wandered down a bush land trail and glimpsed the small bay on our way. We then found ourself in a posh marina, before climbing the many steps to Balls Head Road. After locating Jamie's house, we went for a coffee at a local pavement cafe.
Today we decided to go and investigate Paddy's Market and Chinatown. We spent ages in the market buying veggies for dinner and other bits and pieces. Graham got freaked out because I took so long to buy tomatoes. We went to a nearby pub for a drink and to calm down. Next a delicious ice cream at darling harbour and then home for pasta and a glass of Pinot.
